Many of the model railway layout baseboards which I create incorporate track components pinned onto a track bed of grey scatter. This enables the components to be lifted if required, for example to undertake electrical work to convert from analogue to DCC control, drill for point motors etc.
Occasionally I create model railway layouts with weathered and ballasted track, usually shelf layouts or minimum space micro layouts.
Some of my larger model railway layout designs are constructed with second radius curves or greater. This ensures reliable operation of most of the newer locomotives and rolling stock, many of which are now designed to operate on track components with a minimum second radius.
